In order for the Trek for Life to continue, there are some areas we really need help with!

We are also hoping to establish a Working Committee, to take over many of the jobs the Trustees have so far done themselves.

While the Trustees will still oversee much of the main organisation throughout the year, there are still areas where Committee Members would contribute, and then also help take this workload on during the actual Trek event so the Trustees have time to enjoy being around the Camp and Trekkers as well.

If you, or anyone you know, fits the bill or would like to know more - please email us at:

Medic/Nurse

As those of you who attended our 2023 Trek will know, our lovely volunteer Medic and Nurse team of Simon and Ali gave us the sad news that this would be their last year as they rightfully need a break! They have finally completed the country - starting in Port Waikato with the Great NZ Trek, and they now wish to focus on other things for a while.

So, we are looking for their replacements - and let us say these are big shoes to fill - but we are sure there are some AMAZING people out there!

Unfortunately this is not a job where you can walk, bike or ride, we require dedication to this job in the case of a medical event, so ideally a similar set up as previous years - a Roving Medic on a quad bike who is able to attend events on the route, and the Nurse with all the supplies in a vehicle who is available at Camps and Lunch Stops and to co-ordinate with the Medic as required in the event of a med-evac on the trail.

Job Requirements:

  • Appropriate medical training

  • Access to medical supplies for the Trek

  • Ability to drive a Quad out on the route

Health & Safety Officer

Simon has done an amazing job over the years overseeing our Health and Safety Procedures, however with his absence we are looking for someone who can step into this Role while we are on Trek, as we the Trustees just don’t have enough heads for the number of hats we need to wear!

Job requirements:

  • Update the Health and Safety Policy for each annual event

  • Be the point of contact for any issues such as:

    • Trekkers who have not signed back in

    • Covering H&S induction requirements for blocks we access

Camp Director

The Camp Director will be the main point of contact.
If the Trustees require something to be looked at, they will liase with the Camp Director, and the CD will then refer to the appropriate people.

The CD’s main job is to ensure that the Camp moves smoothly each day - so ensuring that the Caterer’s and Services have an idea of the Camp Layout each day, and that everything is set up in the right areas by working with each of the Volunteer Team Leaders.

Vet & Vet Nurse/Assistant

We are looking for a qualified Vet who can organise and oversee this side of things completely (e.g. medication, supplies).

Ideally, one person in this team would be driving the Vet Vehicle, and be available in the mornings, then drive through to the lunch stop, and then on to Camp.

The other person could be a horse rider, as we do occasionally need access to horses in places where the quads etc are unable to access.

Funding Officer

We are interested in finding someone who is able to identify organisations that provide funding where we meet the criteria specified. This is particularly necessary to cover the deficit incurred from 2022 and 2023 due to events outside of our control.

Your job would be to make the applications and provide all the supporting documentation. To follow up where applications are successful and where not successful to enquire whether there was anything we could have done further to have achieved a positive result. Ensure that any reports required by the funders are filed within the specified times.

All we need from you is a commitment of your time and your desire to help and support the Trek for Life!

Volunteer Officer

Someone who can find and organise our Volunteers!

Marketing and Media Manager

A keen person to push our event to sponsors and participants - particularly Bikers, Walkers and Volunteers.

Jobs would include keeping our website and social media pages up to date, looking at other avenues to assist our event.

Auction Organisers

We would love a couple of capable people to take over the organisation of the Silent and Live Auctions.

  • Accept donation items, keep a list of incoming items and store them safely

  • Decide which items are up for Silent and which will be up for Live Auction

  • Distribute items once sold and collect payments

Talent Organisers

Some awesome activators who can encourage people to get up and entertain us for one evening
